Home Remedies For Hair loss in Women

You could lose at least 100 of your 100,000 scalp
hairs each day So you shouldn't be alarmed if this is the case with you. Usually, the lost hair is replaced by a new hair from the same hair follicle, located just below the scalp's surface. Luckly we have some great home remedies for hair los in women to speed up growth.

Women also lose more hair as they age. Many experience a generalized thinning of the hair or a "widened part" in the center of the scalp after menopause. This is called female pattern baldness.

As with male pattern baldness, hormonal changes and genetic predisposition are to blame. Although they do not usually lose as much hair as men do, women are also constantly searching for a cure for this distressing problem. All in all, more than two-thirds of all men and women have some type of hair loss or thinning during their lifetime.
Premature hair loss or thinning can also be due to a wide variety of other causes. Most women lose quite a bit of hair in the two to three months after they deliver a baby, and this can continue for up to six months. One and a half to three months after severe stress, operation, infection, or high fever, a person may also lose a lot of hair. Likewise, two to three months after crash dieting with insufficient protein intake, hair may come out in handfuls.
Many prescription drugs can cause reversible hair loss. Cancer patients treated with certain chemotherapeutic drugs may lose up to 90 percent of their scalp hair, but it eventually returns after their treatment is finished. Birth control pills that contain high levels of progestin also can cause hair loss.

Other possible causes of hair loss include trauma; syphilis; tumors; thyroid disease; connective tissue diseases; bacterial, fungal, or herpes infections of the scalp; improper hair care with tight hairstyles, overbrushing, or overuse of dyes and permanents; and, in women, too-high levels of male hormones.
Many different nutrient deficiencies result in hair loss, including deficiencies of vitamins A, B6, B12, folic acid, biotin, vitamin C, copper, iron, and zinc. Hair loss can be a sign of vitamin A toxicity as well as deficiency. Vitamins B6, B12, folic acid, copper, and iron are necessary for the normal formation of red blood cells that supply oxygen to the hair shaft.

Copper also functions in the formation of hair pigmentation, so copper deficiency can also cause color changes in the hair. With vitamin-C deficiency, the hair splits and breaks easily, resulting in dry, kinky, tangled hair. Silica also is important for hair growth and strength. Vitamin E is also necessary for good scalp and hair follicle health.
There is also an immune problem known as alopecia areata, in which the hair suddenly comes out in totally smooth, round patches. This condition can cause a lot of pyschological stress. A person with alopecia areata can also lose hair from his or her eyelashes, eyebrows, beard, and the other hairy areas of the body.
Because a full head of hair is associated with virility, youth, and attractiveness, hair loss and thinning can have a huge negative psychological impact on a person. If you start losing more hair than normal, a dermatologist will try to identify the cause by taking a complete history doing blood tests, and examining your hair visually, under the microscope, with hair analysis, and, perhaps, with a scalp biopsy.

Frankincense, A New Potential Relief For Arthritis Pains

Not many young people know and realize how painful and distressful can be joint aches related to arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. However, the older we get, the more chances we have to develop this terrible disease. A great deal of today’s scientists are being studying this health condition and looking for effective cures to relieve its symptoms and joint pains associated with arthritis. According to the findings of a group of experts working in Cardiff University, an old herbal remedy like frankincense can assist those who suffer from arthritis in alleviating the pains, aches and other symptoms of arthritis.
The research, leaded by  Professor Vic Duance and Dr Emma Blain, the experts from Cardiff University’s School of Biosciences and Dr Ahmed Ali of the Compton Group (Somalia), embraced studying the effects of frankincense extract known as one of the oldest and traditional African herbal remedies for arthritis on joint aches and pains of various severity. “The search for new ways of relieving the symptoms of inflammatory arthritis and osteoarthritis is a long and difficult one,” Dr. Emma Blain underlines. For the experiments, the scientists used Boswellia frereana, one of quite rare African species of frankincense tree that grows in Somalia and many regions of Central Africa.
The Cardiff scientists managed to achieve a great success in their search for obtaining the best and the most effective ways to combat rheumatoid arthritis pains with the help of this ancient natural remedy. According to the comments of Dr. Ali, their research and experiments ended up with determining the most effective way of receiving special chemical extractions. In other words, the study findings include a special and unique formula based on natural ingredients extracted from frankincense and working perfectly well for relieving joint pains related to arthritis and joint inflammations.
“Having done this we are now able to further characterise the chemical entity and compare its success against other anti-inflammatory drugs used for treating the condition,” Dr Ali says. The findings of this very important study sponsored by the Severnside Alliance for Translational Research (SARTRE) in the framework of its famous and ongoing project the MRC Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme, were recently presented to the general public in one of Cardiff University scientific editions. The experiments involved about 60 volunteers who were given a special formula, a pomegranate extract received from the peel, seeds and the pith of the fruit. Another group of volunteers was given placebo. The scientists monitored chemical processes in the body of every participant, and it turned out that those people who were having pomegranate extract for 30 days had much more improved markers showing cell damage. This kind of decrease in oxidation processes which naturally occurs with the time and is linked to aging, is attributed totally to consuming pomegranate extract.
‘We are very excited about this study which we believe demonstrates that regular consumption of this pomegranate extract can slow down the process of DNA oxidation,’ Dr Sergio Streitenberger, one of the study leaders, comments to Spanish mass media. It is very exciting to find a potential for slowing down aging in such a fruit as pomegranate, especially taking in the account the fact that nowadays, our bodies becoming depots for dozens of dangerous toxins and scores of harmful chemicals which speed up aging and bring to a great deal of illnesses. Fiber Is The Best Protection For Diabetes And Heart Problems In Teenagers

Scientists say that the teenagers who eat enough of fiber-rich foods like whole grains, apples, cabbage, carrots, all sorts of berries, leafy greens and so on, have quite lower chances to suffer from such serious health conditions as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Those are the findings of a recent study conducted by a group of scientists at Michigan State University in East Lansing. The study, however, does not reveal any sort of clear connections between the opposite, or consuming too much fatty foods or high cholesterol levels in blood and metabolic syndrome in teenagers.
The specialists analyzed the daily diet of over 200 modern teenagers aged between 12 and 19, aiming to find the links between the diet and the most common signs of metabolic syndrome: high levels of bad cholesterol, low levels of good cholesterol and high blood pressure. It was found out that in total, about 6 per cent of the teenagers displayed obvious signs of metabolic syndrome, and those who usually consumed the less fiber (less than 3 g per 1000 calories) were among those.
For the teenagers who do not like eating foods rich in fiber, the risks of developing metabolic syndrome, which is in many cases followed by such complications as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and others, can go as high as 9 per cent. At the same time, those teenagers who eat increased amounts of fiber-rich foods (in average more than 11 g per 1000 calories), the risks of developing the mentioned health conditions can fall down to only 3 per cent.
“There has been quite a lot done on the link between exercise and metabolic syndrome, but not nutrition,”  says Dr. Joe Carlson, a head of the Division of Sports and Cardiovascular Nutrition and one of the study leaders. He stresses on the importance of eating a healthy diet for today’s teenagers, for their health and longevity. It is interesting that the received findings correspond greatly to the existing dietary guidelines and the recommended amounts of fiber consumption for teengers. In order to receive great results and maximize the effects of a proper fiber consumption, Dr. Carlson recommends every teenager to eat as much as two servings of whole grains, three servings of veggies and three servings of fruit every day. Alpha Lipoic Acid and Other Treatment of Alzheimer's

Recent research studies have shown that certain nutrients and supplements, such as alpha lipoic acid (ALA), can slow down or even reverse Alzheimer's disease. While a cure has yet to be found, the results are extremely encouraging.
New research has identified ALA as a critical nutrient in the treatment of Alzheimer?s disease. For example, one study found that alpha lipoic acid protects against Alzheimer?s by preventing oxidative stress and free radical production. In this study 600 milligrams of alpha lipoic acid was given daily to patients with Alzheimer?s disease for roughly a year, helping to stabilize the condition. Alpha lipoic acid and vitamin E work synergistically to prevent free radical damage to brain cells during strokes according to new research. Therefore, take daily supplements of 300 ? 600 IU of natural vitamin E, in conjunction with alpha lipoic acid. I recommend you consider Natural Vitamin E. Take one capsule per day.
Together alpha lipoic acid and Acetyl L-Carnitine improve performance on memory tasks by lowering oxidative damage in the brain. I recommend you consider this great source for Alpha Lipoic Acid. Take two capsules per day, one in the morning, one in the evening.
Recent studies show that alzheimers patients do not have sufficient amounts of Acetyl L-Carnitine in their bodies. Acetyl L-Carnitine works by preventing buildup of amyloid plaque that damages brain tissues, thought to be a cause of Alzheimer?s. A new study shows that Acetyl-L-Carnitine helps control amyloid plaque by inhibiting free radical action and preserving energy production in the brain. Giving patients Acetyl L-Carnitine supplements was shown to slow down the progress of alzheimers. However, Acetyl L-Carnitine supplements are very expensive.
If your liver is functioning normally, a less expensive and more natural way to increase Acetyl L-Carnitine in your body is by eating lysine-rich foods and taking L-Lysine supplements. Lysine-rich foods include: Cottage cheese Dark meat chicken Fish Peanuts (make sure you are not allergic to peanuts before eating them) Chick peas Soybeans Pumpkin and squash seeds.
In addition, I suggest NSI's L-Lysine supplements as a cost-effective source. Start by taking one capsule per day and over 2 weeks, work up to 4 capsules per day, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening.
Additionally, the following supplements help your body produce lysine:
Rather than taking separate supplements for the various vitamin B's and C, I recommend a B-Complex supplement.
Liver health is essential for your body to properly process lysine rich foods and produce Acetyl-L-Carnitine. A good way to help your liver function properly is to undertake a liver cleanse. Additionally, supplements recommended in the liver cleansing treatment, such as milk thistle can help to support your liver functions. In addition to using antioxidants such as alpha lipoic acid and Acetyl-L-Carnitine, improving blood circulation to the brain has been shown to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's. Two supplements that can improve blood circulation in your entire body (and therefore your brain) are Padma (derived from a Tibetan formula called Gabur) and Ginko. Padma is a combination of over 20 herbs, while Ginko is an herb in and of itself. Both these supplements have proven effective in increasing circulation to the brain and in improving memory function.
Researchers at the New York Institute for Medical Research in Tarrytown, New York, conducted a clinical study of ginkgo biloba and dementia in the United States. Their findings were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (October 22/29, 1997). These scientists examined how taking a daily dose of ginkgo biloba affected the rate of cognitive decline in people with mild to moderately severe dementia due to Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. At the end of the study, they reported a treatment difference in people given the ginkgo biloba extract.
Bacopa Monniera has been used for centuries in the Ayurvedic herbal tradition of India to enhance clear thinking and support memory function. Studies have shown that Bacopa supports learning and memory and provides antioxidant protection for critical memory centers. Bacopa play a protective role in the synaptic functions of the nerves in the hippocampus, the seat of memory. Nerve impulses are transmitted across the synapses and their degeneration is believed to contribute to impaired memory and cognition.
Researchers at the Department of Psychology, University of Wollongong, in Australia, studied the effects of Bacopa on human memory. Seventy-six adults aged between 40 and 65 years took part in a double-blind randomized, placebo control study in which various memory functions were tested and levels of anxiety measured. There were three testing sessions: one prior to the trial, one after three months on the trial, and one six weeks after the completion of the trial. The results showed a significant effect of bacopa monniera on a test for the retention of new information. Follow-up tests showed that the rate of learning was unaffected, suggesting that bacopa decreases the rate of forgetting of newly acquired information as well. Additional testing information can be found in this article on Bacopa Monniera from Alternative Medicine Review.
I have found a supplier that provides a high quality blend of bacopa monniera and ginko biloba, to promote healthy brain function, and a reasonable price. Here is my recommendation.
Phosphatidyl serine (PS) is a phospholipid that is vital to brain cell structure and function. These phospholipids are responsible for taking in nutrients, removing waste, and enabling brain cells to coordinate with the rest of the body. PS plays an important role in our brain's neurotransmitter production and release, the brain's synapses (nerve connections), and various higher mental activities. Phosphatidyl serine levels in our body's decline with aging. Supplementing with PS provides nutritional support for memory, learning, and emotional well-being. Unlike the relationship between alpha lipoic acid and prevention / delay of Alzheimer's, the evidence that lecithin helps deter Alzheimer?s disease is loose. However, in studies, regular doses of lecithin, a natural supply of choline, have been shown to improve short-term memory and reduce memory lapses. So consuming sufficient quantities of lecithin or choline can help promote brain health and reduce memory lapses. If you wish to take lecithin supplements, I recommend lecithin granules. Take one tablespoon in the morning and one in the evening. You can sprinkle it on your cereal to add a nutty flavor.
I have found a supplier that has formulated a high quality blend of choline, phosphatidyl serine, L-Glutamine (an amino acid that helps reduce glycation), and L-Tyrosine (a precursor to certain healthy neurotransmitters). Here is my recommendation for this product.
As we eat fewer natural and organic fruits and vegetables, and eat more processed foods, we will have to rely on natural nutritional supplements to address the ills of our society. One such supplement is curcumin, a component that makes up the majority of the spice turmeric. Turmeric is a spice that is commonly used in Indian cooking and Ayurvedic medicine. Not so surprisingly, India has one of the lowest rates of Alzheimers disease in the world.
For some time, experts have agreed that anti-inflammatory drugs that are not based on steroids help decrease the risk of Alzheimer?s. This is why doctors have been prescribing aspirin for such problems. However, most anti-inflammatory drugs ? especially aspirin ? can cause bleeding in your stomach and intestines, and can damage your liver and kidneys with long-term use. A recent study showed that amyloid plaques (the leading theory on the cause of Alzheimer's disease ) were reduced in animals that were fed curcumin.
Environmental exposure to aluminum has been linked with Alzheimer?s disease. Therefore, it stands to reason that we should avoid aluminum contact with our food and products we use on our bodies, as much as possible. Avoid antacids that contain aluminum. Acceptable alternatives are antacids which contain calcium. Avoid antiperspirants containing aluminum. Nearly all antiperspirants have aluminum salts that are absorbed into your body. An effective alternative is to use a natural deodorant that contains clay or tea tree oil. Natural deodorants generally do not contain aluminum salts, but can still help some with perspiration problems. Additionally, chlorophyll consumed either in the diet, or through supplements, can help reduce body odor and can help eliminate the need for deodorants. Avoid cooking in aluminum cookware and any cookware that is coated with a non-stick finish that is cracked. Stainless steel, ceramic or porcelain cookware are better choices. Avoid using food packaged in aluminum. Aluminum cans generally have a protective food liner, but this liner can deteriorate over time and allow aluminum to leach into the food. Any acidic products, such as food that contains tomato, is especially vulnerable.Researchers have found that adding silicon to aluminum-laced water supplies prevented the aluminum from being absorbed into tissues. Silicon is one of the most abundant minerals on the planet, but few foods contain the amounts that your body needs to protect it from aluminum. Dietary sources of silicon include: Ground cornmeal Oats Multivitamins that contain 25 mg of silicon Silicea (homeopathic cell salt : dosage 6 tablets, three times per day) The most obvious step in minimizing glycation (and thus the production of AGEs), is to minimize your intake of refined sugar. In addition to watching consumption of white sugar granules, the majority of processed foods now contain sugar. Unfortunately, corn syrup, the number one sweetener additive, is been found to be one of the most active in triggering glycation. Use unrefined sweeteners, where necessary ? especially herbal sweeteners such as stevia. More information can be found in natural and artificial sweeteners.
The benefit of exercise for preventing Alzheimer's is two fold. Not only does exercise reduce the amount of blood sugar, but it also increases blood circulation to all parts of the body, including the brain. This increased circulation helps reduce the risk of Alzheimer?s.
Controlling your blood sugar and minimizing excess glucose in the blood reduces glycation and the production of AGEs. Foods such as simple sugars that rapidly raise your blood sugar are said to have a high glycemic index. Foods such as complex carbohydrates that take longer to digest, and thus do not as quickly affect your blood sugar level, are said to have a low glycemic index. Therefore, eating low glycemic food helps to minimize glycation.
The formation of AGEs is accelerated when your kidneys are weakened or not functioning properly. An herbal kidney cleanse can help dissolve kidney stones and help support your kidney functions.
Preventing Alzheimer's disease, using Alpha Lipoic Acid

Stage of Alzheimer

Alzheimer's disease begins slowly. At an early stage of Alzheimer's, the only symptom may be mild forgetfullness. People with Alzheimer's disease may have trouble remembering recent events, activities, or the names of familiar people or things. Simple math problems may become hard to solve. Such difficulties may be a bother, but usually they are not serious enough to cause alarm.
However, at a later stage of Alzheimer's, symptoms are more easily noticed and become serious enough to cause people to seek medical help. For example, people in a later stage of Alzheimer's disease may forget how to do simple tasks, like brushing their teeth or combing their hair. They can no longer think clearly. They begin to have problems speaking, understanding, reading, or writing. Later on, people with Alzheimer's disease may become anxious or aggressive, or wander away from home. Eventually, patients need total care.
Alzheimer's is generally not reversible. However, if caught early alpha lipoic acid and other Alzheimer?s treatments can be used to slow (and possibly stop) the progression of the disease.
Asking the same question over and over again. Repeating the same story, word for word, again and again. Forgetting how to cook, or how to make repairs, or how to play cards ? activities that were previously done with ease and regularity. Losing the ability to pay bills or balance a checkbook. Getting lost in familiar surroundings, or misplacing household objects. Neglecting to bathe, or wearing the same clothes over and over again, while insisting that they have taken a bath or that their clothes are still clean. Relying on someone else, such as a spouse, to make decisions or answer questions they previously would have handled themselves. Having trouble recognizing family members Needing help to take a bath or shower, choose clothing, or get dressed Changing sleep habits, such as remaining awake at night and sleeping during the day Needing reminders to eat Speaking less and less Needing help to eat, stand or walk Needing help to use the bathroom Touching or patting things over and over Diagnosing and treating Alzheimer?s disease in its early stage is.

Lowering Cholesterol

The Controversy
There is a controversy on the benefits of lowering cholesterol levels and what normal cholesterol levels should be. For a long time the medical community has preached that lowering cholesterol directly reduces the risk of heart attacks. In part, this message was promoted by pharmaceutical companies that are making staggering sums of money on chemical cholesterol treatments. With guidance and help from the pharmaceutical industry, the federal government has repeatedly adjusted its guidelines for normal cholesterol levels. Each time the normal cholesterol level is adjusted, a larger percentage of the population falls under the definition of patients with high cholesterol that need medication. Statin drugs, the standard medication for high cholesterol, inhibits the liver's ability to manufacture cholesterol.
High cholesterol levels should be thought of as an alarm warning us of a problem in our bodies. Turning that alarm off using Statin drugs does not address the root cause of the problem, but rather hides the problem. Using natural means for lowering LDL cholesterol (" bad cholesterol ") and raising HDL cholesterol (" good cholesterol ") addresses the root cause and has health benefits related to coronary diseases such as arterial sclerosis.
Background information on cholesterol, an explanation of the difference between HDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, and guidelines on levels can be found in normal cholesterol levels .
So why lower LDL cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol levels?
From the background on normal cholesterol levels, you learned that HDL cholesterol moves cholesterol safely to its destination and tends to remove cholesterol from artery walls. LDL cholesterol, on the other hand, can damage you arteries when it oxidizes. This damage can lead to mineral and fat deposits which can thicken and stiffen the artery walls. This is called arterial sclerosis.
This constriction, limits blood flow to all of your vital organs. The kidneys and heart normally react by increasing your blood pressure, thus putting strain on the hardened arteries and all of your organs. Increasing your HDL cholesterol levels and lowering your LDL cholesterol levels can stop the progression of arterial sclerosis and in some cases even reverse it. These medical studies support the information presented here regarding the connection between lowering cholesterol levels, the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and coronary artery disease.
Why isn't completely avoiding high cholesterol food the answer?
A gentleman I know was diagnosed with high cholesterol about 30 years ago. This was when an overall cholesterol level under 300 mg/dL was considered normal (as opposed to 200 mg/dL today). At the time, natural cholesterol treatments consisted of reducing cholesterol and saturated fats in your diet and getting more cardiovascular exercise. This person went on an extreme version of this dietary plan by avoiding all foods with cholesterol and avoiding all foods with saturated fats. Despite these extreme measures, his cholesterol level did not come down meaningfully. However, he robbed himself of the beneficial nutritional value of certain high cholesterol foods, such as liver, eggs and coconut oil (which contains saturated fat). He finally succumbed to the advice of his doctor and resorted to cholesterol lowering medication to bring his cholesterol under control. The latest versions of these drugs, called Statins, inhibit the cholesterol generation functions of your liver. There is insufficient long term data to know the lasting side effects of these drugs on your liver?s health. Liver functions and cleansing will teach you more about the many functions your liver performs and why damaging your liver is the last thing you want to do.
Your liver creates 3-8 times the cholesterol that the typical person consumes. Eliminating cholesterol from your food will only cause your body to compensate by increasing its cholesterol production.
Cholesterol Treatment Plan
Your focus should be on lowering cholesterol levels in your body, not merely on lowering the cholesterol in the food you eat. An effective and safe way to do this is using a common sense, natural cholesterol treatment plan .

Vitamin C Therapy

Vitamin C therapy is now being used to address a range of maladies including coronary artery disease, irregular heartbeat and cancer. The rationale centers around the production of collagen, a primary building block in your body, and the integrity of your cells. While this page focuses on the use of Vitamin C therapy for coronary artery disease, benefits across the wider range of maladies can be experienced.
Remember when your mother would tell you to take plenty of Vitamin C to ward off colds and flus? Well, scientists are now finding out that Vitamin C, in therapeutic doses and in combination with other vital nutrients, is also an extremely effective antioxidant that can help prevent cancer from spreading and also help prevent coronary artery disease. I recently attended a seminar that had presentations on the use of Vitamin C therapy for these two maladies.
First of all, I thought I would start with a refresher course on some of the basics ? I know I needed this in order to understand the rationale behind these therapies. However, before I start, I want to provide a word of caution. High doses of vitamin C can interfere with the effects of statin drugs. Although I always recommend consulting your doctor or other healthcare professional before starting any vitamin therapy, this is particularly important if you are currently taking statin drugs.
Most of us have heard about collagen as it relates to our skin. Hand creams claim to incorporate collagen to help make your skin soft and a decade ago collagen injections were a fad to help reduce wrinkles.
Collagen is actually the main protein of connective tissue in our bodies and the most abundant protein in all mammals. It is a long, fibrous structural protein that is the main component of cartilage, ligaments, tendons, bones and teeth. Additionally, it strengthens blood vessels and plays a role in tissue development. You can well imagine that our bodies need to be able to manufacture sufficient collagen in order to repair cellular damage and to maintain structural integrity.
Many of us take vitamins. If you do not, you may want to read the discussion on vitamin supplements. The recommended daily vitamin requirement is intended to maintain good health for already healthy individuals. However, to address specific ailments, vitamin C therapy involves administering higher doses of vitamin C and other related nutrients as a natural cure to allow your body to heal itself. Your body makes use of these higher doses to help it fight the specific ailment. One of the presentations in the cellular health seminar focused on the causes of coronary artery disease. The information from this presentation is summarized below in simple English, rather than medical terminology.
Our vascular system provides a conduit for blood flow and therefore needs to be structural as well as slippery. The coronary arteries in particular are important because they are the main conduits for blood to reach the heart, which then pumps it to all other parts of the body. However, the coronary arteries are also the most susceptible to mechanical damage because the pressure caused by the heart pumping blood compresses these arteries and therefore stresses the artery walls. Think of squeezing a drinking straw over and over again - sooner or later it will crack.
Coronary artery disease develops because a long-term deficiency of essential nutrients in the vascular walls causes them to lose their elasticity. Vitamin malnourished vascular walls weaken, causing microscopic cracks and lesions to develop. These cracks cause stress points that attract calcification deposits and hence cause coronary artery disease ? a narrowing of the arteries due to deposits on the inside of their walls.
The body?s natural response is to attempt to fix these cracks and legions by applying a slippery substance called cholesterol to patch the damage. The liver responds by increasing cholesterol levels to make sure that there is sufficient patching material available. Therefore, high cholesterol levels are not a root cause of coronary artery disease, but rather a symptom. Think of your cholesterol level as an alarm system. Lowering cholesterol artificially by inhibiting liver function (as is done with prescription medications such as statin drugs) merely disables the alarm, and thus does not significantly lower the risk of coronary artery disease. Lowering cholesterol naturally through healthy lifestyle changes addresses the root cause.
A proper supply of nutrients will allow the cellular damage to vascular walls to be repaired properly and prevent further cracks and lesions. Proper nutrition addresses the root cause of the problem and therefore also results in lower cholesterol levels ? one of the symptoms.
Collagen and elastin give our arteries their structure. The increased production of collagen, elastin and other structural reinforcement molecules allow your body to maintain the structural integrity of the all of your vascular walls. This prevents the damage to your coronary arteries due to mechanical stress. Therefore artery walls do not crack and thus are less susceptible to calcification and deposit buildup.
Collagen differs from other protein molecules in that it makes particular use of the amino acids lysine and proline. Vitamin C therapy stimulates the production of collagen in artery walls. Therefore, the adequate supply of lysine, proline and vitamin C is an important factor in maximizing the production of collagen.
My first reaction to all this information was that it made sense, but it was firmly in the camp of good theory. However, I started to become convinced when the results of clinical studies, published in the Journal of Applied Nutrition (1996, Volume 48, Number 3), were presented.
The study objective was to determine the effect of a nutritional supplement program, consisting of vitamin C therapy, on the natural progression of coronary artery disease in 55 patients between the ages of 44 and 67. The study used something called Ultrafast Computed Tomography to document the level of coronary artery disease and the sample of patients composed of people with early and advanced stages of the disease.
During the course of the 12-month study, the rate of coronary artery calcification decreased in all patients by an average of 15%. In the subset of early stage patients, the progression of calcification was stopped completely. In some cases, calcification was actually reversed, including a case of the disappearance of all calcification deposits. The nutritional supplement used was a broad spectrum supplement. The major differences between this supplement and the All One supplement I recommended for general nutrition, is increased amounts of Vitamin C, Lysine and Proline - vitamin C therapy. If you are already taking the All One supplement, taking 4-6 capsules daily of this NSI Collagen Building Supplement will give you the additional Vitamin C, Lysine and Proline that was used in the study. If you have been taking the All One supplement for a few weeks, start out by taking two pills per day and gradually increase the dosage over the span of 2 weeks. Also I suggest taking half the daily dosage in the morning and half in the evening, with or right after meals.
The presentation stated that vitamin C therapy can sometimes cause diarrhea. It is apparently our body's way to eliminating the excess vitamin C. Make sure to increase the dosage gradually, as described above. If you find yourself getting this problem shortly after adding this supplement, back off on the dosage until it stops. Vitamin C Therapy is

Cholesterol Treatment

The goal of this cholesterol treatment plan in general is lowering cholesterol. Specifically, we want to lower your LDL cholesterol and increase your HDL cholesterol ? in other words getting the right balance of cholesterol in your system. Remember, LDL cholesterol damages arteries in a few ways and HDL cholesterol helps to fix your arteries to some degree.
This cholesterol treatment provides some common sense guidelines on getting the right balance in your LDL and HDL cholesterol levels. I used this plan to lower my total cholesterol from 280 to 194, and to increase my HDL cholesterol and lower my ratio of total cholesterol / HDL cholesterol from over 6.0, down to 3.5. Normal cholesterol level provides a simple description of what these numbers mean.
What are the cholesterol treatment steps you need to take to get your cholesterol in the proper balance? Perform a liver cleanse Exercise, exercise, exercise Reduce sharp spikes in your blood sugar level through proper diet choice and eating smaller meals regularly. Eat foods that lower cholesterol and avoid foods that increase cholesterol
Liver Cleanse
A liver cleanse is an important part of a natural cholesterol treatment plan. Your liver creates 3 to 8 times the cholesterol that a normal diet contains. If you cut your cholesterol intake completely, you would still be getting 75% to 95% of the cholesterol you are getting today. Performing a liver cleanse will make your liver more efficient and effective at performing all its functions, including making cholesterol. Therefore, cleansing your liver is one of the best things you can do to regain balance of your cholesterol. With one liver cleanse, I was able to lower my LDL cholesterol by 10 mg/dL (in addition to what I was able to accomplish with all of the other steps). By lowering your LDL cholesterol level, a liver cleanse helps you achieve one of the goals of your cholesterol treatment plan.
The Many Benefits of Exercise
You probably know that exercise helps you increase your muscle mass and reduce your body fat levels. Aerobic exercise in particular helps you improve your cardiovascular health. As you learned, another of benefit of exercise is that it aids in your whole body detox and cleansing program.
In addition to all of these benefits, exercise also helps you increase your HDL cholesterol and lower your LDL cholesterol ? the very goal we are trying to accomplish in your cholesterol treatment plan. Getting 20 ? 30 minutes of aerobic exercise every day is sufficient to better balance your HDL and LDL cholesterol. What is even more amazing is that the benefit to helping you achieve normal cholesterol levels is gained even if this exercise is broken down into smaller events ? such as walking for 15 minutes in the morning and another 15 minutes at lunch time. I started walking my dog once a day for about 30 minutes - fortunately, my dog likes brisk walks. The pros and cons of various types of aerobic exercises that should be part of your cholesterol treatment plan are provided in exercise benefits .
Blood Sugar Changes and LDL Cholesterol
Controlling your blood sugar is increasingly recognized as a key element in a cholesterol treatment plan. Rapid changes in your blood sugar and the presence of excess insulin in your blood increase the LDL cholesterol levels in your blood.
Foods such as simple sugars that rapidly raise your blood sugar are said to have a high glycemic index. Foods such as complex carbohydrates that take longer to digest, and thus do not as quickly affect your blood sugar level, are said to have a low glycemic index.
Recent studies have found that high glycemic index foods tend to raise your LDL cholesterol level. High glycemic index foods cause your body to generate excess insulin. This excess insulin causes your cells to generate cholesterol, rather than consume it from your bloodstream. This leads to an increase in LDL cholesterol in your blood.
Therefore, eating low glycemic index foods is a key part of a cholesterol treatment plan.
Food to Lower Cholesterol
Avoiding high cholesterol food completely will likely not be an effective cholesterol treatment plan to lowering cholesterol levels. Remember, your liver makes far more cholesterol than you induce in your diet. Moreover, so-called high cholesterol foods contain nutrients that help you fight other ailments. Completely eliminating these foods deprives you of these essential nutrients. Therefore, eating certain high cholesterol foods in moderation is good for you and will not adversely affect your cholesterol levels.
Instead of avoiding high cholesterol foods completely, a better alternative for your cholesterol treatment plan is to eat foods that lower cholesterol. Certain foods, such as soluble fiber, have properties that have been proven to increase your HDL cholesterol and also lower your LDL cholesterol. For example, I recently ran across a fiber supplement that has been clinically trialed and proven to lower LDL cholesterol twice as effectively as oat fiber (25 mg / dL vs. 11 mg / dL). It also helped control blood sugar spikes in Type 2 diabetics. If you do nothing else recommended on this page, I suggest that consider this product and the science behind it.
Eating food to manage your cholesterol is an integral part of your cholesterol treatment. A simple guide to lowering your LDL cholesterol, raising your HDL cholesterol and minimizing oxidation of LDL cholesterol can be found in food that lowers cholesterol

An Excellent Source of Fiber for Lowering Cholesterol

Based on my investigations and ?field experience? (having run the gauntlet of supplement based remedies), I recommend that you consider a product called Bios Life 2 from a company called Unicity to help you lower your LDL cholesterol.
In food that lowers cholesterol, you learned about the ability of soluble fiber to lower LDL cholesterol by binding to it and allowing your body to expel it through bowel movements, a completely natural process. I like the Bios Life 2 product because it is a fiber supplement that has been specifically formulated to lower LDL cholesterol through the use of various sources of fiber. The scientists at Unicity have chosen to use a mix of soluble fiber sources, including guar gum fiber and fruit pectin, instead of only using only a single source such as psyllium husk or oat fiber. In a head-to-head comparison of Bios Life 2 vs. oat fiber source, the Bios Life fiber lowered LDL cholesterol by twice the amount as the oat fiber source (25 mg/dL for Bios Life 2 vs. 11 mg/dL for oat fiber). Here is the reference.

Cholesterol Levels and Its effectiveness

Normal cholesterol level is vital for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It a must way to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. Causes of high LDL cholesterol is not always in your control, although other causes can be controlled through lifestyle changes and diet.

Understand normal cholesterol levels, we need to define what cholesterol is. Cholesterol is a fat that does not dissolve readily in blood. Would it surprise you to learn that cholesterol performs a lot of essential functions? Every cell uses cholesterol to build its protective membrane, protecting it from various substances Cholesterol helps keep water from leaving your body too quickly

Cholesterol provides the basis of important hormones produced in your adrenal glands, ovaries and testes
Cholesterol helps your body make vitamin D Therefore, eliminating cholesterol is not an option. However, achieving normal cholesterol levels and getting the right balance of cholesterol in your blood will lead to healthier arteries, and as a result healthier organs. Since cholesterol does not dissolve in your blood, it needs help in traveling through your body. It therefore attaches itself to fatty proteins - high density lipoproteins ( HDL cholesterol ) and low density lipoproteins ( LDL cholesterol ).

HDL cholesterol keeps cholesterol liquid and moves it safely through the body. It hangs on to the cholesterol, not letting it get loose and attach itself to your artery walls. In fact, HDL can grab on to and move cholesterol already stuck to your artery walls. This is why HDL cholesterol is sometimes called good cholesterol.

LDL cholesterol is not beneficial. Oxidized LDL cholesterol can damage artery walls and set the stage for mineral and fat deposits which lead to blockages.
Therefore, achieving normal cholesterol levels by reducing your LDL cholesterol and increasing your HDL cholesterol, is the best way to keep your arteries healthy.
Cholesterol levels are normally checked through a blood test. Prior to drawing blood for your next blood test, you should ask for a lipid profile. The lipid profile not only measures overall cholesterol, but also HDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels. I feel that these breakdowns are more important than the overall cholesterol level.
Please keep in mind that it is easy to get obsessive over numbers ? I tend to, but it is more important to get into a healthy life style that helps to keeps cholesterol levels in balance. Remember, cholesterol is as much about your genetics as it is about what you do. Therefore, use these numbers as they were intended ? as guidelines. I find it equally helpful to look at trends. For instance, my cholesterol level used to be as high as 280. Over the course of 10 years, I managed to get it down to 194. In the process, I checked it at least once per year, while I improved my lifestyle.

Total cholesterol level should be 135 - 200 mg/dL.
LDL cholesterol ( bad cholesterol ) should be less than 130 mg/dL.
HDL cholesterol ( good cholesterol ) should be greater than 30 mg/dL.

Raising HDL cholesterol was not a priority until a few years ago. Most studies had focused on how lowering LDL cholesterol that can reduce the risk or coronary heart disease. But in the past few years, researchers have identified that HDL acted as an independent factor and was also critical in the overall health of your heart.
The ratio of Total cholesterol / HDL cholesterol should be 4.0 ? 6.0 (for males) and 3.7 ? 5.7 (for females). This ratio is an important indicator of health. Since LDL cholesterol can damage your arteries and HDL cholesterol helps your arteries, this ratio is a good indicator of the potential of cholesterol, in general, to help or hurt your arteries. Additionally, there are separate guidelines for male and female ? Lowering LDL cholesterol and increasing HDL cholesterol is an important part of managing your cholesterol and heart health.

Since cholesterol is a product of genetics and lifestyle (diet and exercise), there are no natural magic pills for lowering cholesterol without modifying lifestyle factors. However, I have recently found something that is as close as it gets - a fiber supplement clinically proven to lower LDL cholesterol twice as effectively as oat fiber! If you do nothing else, I recommend that you look at this product and the science behind it.
Another method of achieving normal cholesterol levels naturally is to eat food that lowers cholesterol. You can find other natural methods of managing your cholesterol levels by following this cholesterol treatment plan.

1. Diet

Besides produced by the body, cholesterol can also be found in various foods. Eating foods high in saturated fat and cholesterol will increase levels of total cholesterol and LDL levels. It is important to read food labels, even foods that claim to be “natural” or “low fat” may contain substances which increase levels of cholesterol.

Types of foods high in saturated fat include liver, sausage, bologna, salami, and hot dogs. Milk, cheese, vegetable oils made from coconut, palm and cocoa may also increase LDL.

2. Smoke

According to the American Heart Association, smoking can lower levels of HDL or good cholesterol. Smoking also makes the body more difficult to perform physical activities and sports. Regular exercise is an important step in lowering LDL levels.

American Heart Association states that when a person stops smoking, the risk of heart disease and stroke will be reduced by 50% after one year.

3. Less Sports & Obesity

Lack of movement or exercise a role in increasing LDL cholesterol. When doing cardiovascular exercise, the heart and arteries become strong. Lack of exercise can also lead to obesity. Being overweight may increase triglycerides, lower HDL and increase LDL levels.

4. Genetics

Having a family history of high cholesterol increases the risk of someone. Knowing the medical history of parents, grandparents and other family members will help to determine the level of risk. Accumulation of fat in the arteries can occur in childhood and cause blood cholesterol levels rise. This will continue until the person becomes an adult.

Hope This helps.

Organic Meats and Organic Dairy Products

Consuming organic meat, organic dairy products and European-certified organic farm raised fish in small quantities is healthy.
Why eat organic meat and farm raised fish? All meat contains fat. Even if you trim off excess fat, fat resides intermingled in the muscle fiber ? although you may not be able to see it. In addition to publicized health issues related to fat intake, fat is where toxins are stored. Growth hormones and antibiotics fed to cattle accumulate in beef, while heavy metal pollutants that contaminate the ocean build up in ocean fish, especially when caught near the shore. Eating organic meat ensures that you are not getting an unexpected dose of antibiotics and growth hormones with your meat. Eating European-certified organic farm raised fish ensures that you are not eating heavy metal pollutants.
As with everything else, there are a number of concerns in overdoing it. Eating too much meat, even if it is organic meat, can cause various health problems. Too much protein intake can cause acidosis, a condition where the acidity of the body increases out of its normal range.
Despite this concerns, eating organic meat and European-certified organic farm raised fish in appropriate quantities is healthy. In order to ensure that the meats you eat are uncontaminated, make sure that you purchase organic, or at the very least ?all natural? products. The organic label refers to the farm and processing achieving organic certification levels. Although the label ?all natural? is not regulated (so far), it generally refers to meat being raised without the use of growth hormones and antibiotics. All natural meats are generally less expensive than organic meats.
In the case of fish, try and eat European-certified organic farm raised fish or fish caught in the deep ocean. The reason that I specify "European-certified organic" is that the US currently does not have a standard for organic seafood. It is unclear what standard companies are using when they advertise their farm raised fish as organic. However, recent studies have shown that so-called "organic" farm raised fish in the US contains both antibiotics and heavy metal contaminants. Europe, however, has had standards for organic seafood for years. Therefore, finding seafood that is "European-certified organic" is one way to better ensure eating healthy seafood. The alternative is to find fish caught in the deep ocean.
Similar to meats, non-organic dairy products should be avoided. Growth hormones and antibiotics are present in milk ? especially milk fat. Drinking organic milk will help you avoid these undesired contaminants.
Purists will tell you that raw (non-pasteurized), organic goat or cow milk is preferred. However, unless you live near an organic farm or are willing to pay a pretty penny at your local health food store, it is difficult to get raw, organic milk. Moreover, if you want to avoid fat and wish to get low fat or non-fat milk, it becomes nearly impossible to find raw, organic milk sources. So, do your best to consume organic milk.
Another on-going debate with respect to milk is homogenization. Homogenization is the process of combining the milk fat with the milk in such a way that it does not separate. This process was originally undertaken because milk and milk fat would separate. This caused certain containers of milk (those with more fat) to be purchased first. Of course, retailers did not like this because it made it more difficult to sell milk that contained less fat (ironic given how popular low fat and non fat milk are today). So, the milk industry came up with homogenization. This process normally involves pulverizing the fat molecules by forcing them through a sieve. The controversy relates to whether homogenization is actually healthy and whether homogenized milk is harder to digest than its non-homogenized counterpart. I once came across a study where homogenized milk was fed to calves, in which the results were that the calves were severely undernourished. Well, again pragmatism must hold ? it is difficult to find non-homogenized milk containing fat. The simplest solution is to drink organic, non-fat milk that does not require homogenization.
By far, the healthiest form of milk is soured milk, also known as yogurt. Yogurt is made by cultivating certain kinds of beneficial bacteria found in the milk. The bacteria make the milk easier for us to digest. As with milk products, always purchase organic yogurt. Also, when buying yogurt you need to make sure that you are getting yogurt with active cultures. In order to increase the shelf life of yogurt, some yogurt vendors will kill the active cultures in the yogurt. While the result is yogurt that resembles active cultured yogurt, nutritional benefit of the active cultures is lost.

Alzheimers Disease

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive condition that damages areas of the brain involved in intelligence, memory, behavior, judgment, and language. It is the most common form of mental decline in older adults. Alzheimer's gets worse over time, but the course of the disease varies from person to person. Some people may still be able to function relatively well until late stages of Alzheimers disease. Others may lose the ability to do daily activities in earlier stages. Over time, Alzheimer's disease causes severe mental and functional problems and eventually results in death.
Scientists do not yet fully understand the causes of Alzheimer's disease. There probably is not one single cause, but several factors that affect each person differently.
Recent studies indicate that amyloid beta protein may cause Alzheimer's disease. In healthy people, this protein can cross the blood-brain barrier (the wall of blood vessels that feed the brain and regulate the entry and exit of brain chemicals) and leave the brain. In people with Alzheimers disease, amyloid beta protein can't pass through that barrier. As more amyloid beta protein accumulates in a person's brain, they become more and more mentally disabled.
Research has recently revealed that consumption of sugar could be one of the biggest threats to our overall health ? especially when it comes to age related diseases such as Alzheimer?s. One of the major problems stemming from sugar over-consumption is a chemical process called glycation. Glycation refers to the combination of a sugar and a protein molecule and occurs in your body when glucose in your blood combines with the amino acids tryptophan, lysine or arginine. This reaction releases byproducts called Advanced Glycation Endproducts (appropriately given the acronym AGE).
The formation of AGEs is accelerated when you have lower levels of antioxidants in your system and when your kidneys are weak or malfunctioning. The formation is also accelerated when blood sugar levels are high. Researchers now believe that glycation and the formation of AGEs lie at the heart of the alteration of proteins in the brain that cause Alzheimer?s disease.
Age is the most important known risk factor for Alzheimer's disease. The number of people with the disease doubles every 5 years beyond age 65.
Blood sugar problems that cause excess glucose in the blood, such as diabetes, has now been added to the list of risk factors for Alzheimer's, given the role of glycation.
Family history is another risk factor, depending on the type of Alzheimer's . Familial Alzheimer?s Disease, a rare form of Alzheimer's that usually occurs between the ages of 30 and 60, is inherited ? so family history is a big risk factor. The more common form of Alzheimers disease is known as late-onset Alzheimer's. It occurs later in life, and no obvious inheritance pattern is seen.
Since 1965, researchers have suspected that Alzheimers disease is related to accumulations of aluminum in the brain. A relationship between aluminum in drinking water and Alzheimer's has now been established. Additionally, a study looked at the association of Alzheimer's and lifetime exposure to aluminum in antiperspirants and antacids. Scientists found a direct correlation. The more antiperspirant that was used, the more likely the person would develop Alzheimers disease. The same held true for aluminum antacids. It is hard to deny that environmental exposure to aluminum is at least related to Alzheimer?s. Alzheimer?s disease is a progressive disease for which there is no known cure. However, various therapies and treatments can slow the progression of Alzheimer?s. Therefore, it is important to know the warning signs for each stage of Alzheimer's If caught early alpha lipoic acid and other Alzheimer?s treatments can be used to slow (and possibly stop) the progression of the disease. Preventing Alzheimer's disease is

Food that Lowers Cholesterol

Food that lowers cholesterol, specifically LDL cholesterol, is a key element in a cholesterol treatment plan. Certain types of foods and supplements lower LDL cholesterol and/or raise HDL cholesterol. Additionally, it has been determined that some foods reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol in your arteries. This page refers to all of these types of foods as food that lowers cholesterol .
Should you avoid cholesterol in your diet?
While reducing cholesterol in your diet is a good thing, doing it to excess can deprive you of nutrients found in certain high cholesterol food, such as eggs and coconut oil. Rather than focus on eliminating cholesterol from your diet, it makes more sense to focus on food that lowers cholesterol.
Your body produces between 1,500 and 1,800 mg of cholesterol every day. Most of this is manufactured in your liver, and a smaller amount in your small intestines and body?s cells. However, the average American diet contains between 200 mg and 800 mg of cholesterol. If you eliminated all cholesterol in your diet, your body would just end up making more to compensate. Moreover, you would be depriving your body of important nutritional benefits that are in foods that contain cholesterol. Therefore, I advocate moderation - completely avoiding dietary cholesterol is not the answer. However, food that lowers cholesterol is the answer.
Eat Food that Lowers Cholesterol
This list includes supplements and food that lowers cholesterol - that is lowers LDL cholesterol and / or raise HDL cholesterol, or retard the oxidization of LDL cholesterol in your arteries. To help you get find these items, I have found an online store that offers good customer service and wholesale pricing. Each item is linked to the the online store's shopping cart, to make it easier for you to shop. Just go back and forth between this page and their shopping cart, until you have everything you need. Then simply checkout using their shopping cart. The dosages I have recommended are based on the supplements in the provided links. Odor Free Garlic Supplements ? In 1998, studies at Penn State identified a group of chemicals in garlic that reduce the production of cholesterol by your liver. These tests showed that fresh garlic and aged garlic were both effective at reducing LDL cholesterol levels. This Deodorized Garlic Supplement is so potent that my recommended daily dosage is only two tablets (one in the morning and one in the evening). This compares with other popular garlic supplements where up to 8 tablets would be needed to give you the same benefit. This is especially nice if you hate taking pills. Flax ? Flax is high in fiber and contains alpha linoleic acid, an Omega-3 essential fatty acid. This essential fatty acid has been shown to increase levels of HDL cholesterol while lowering levels of LDL cholesterol. These benefits may be attained by consuming flax seed oil or ground flax seeds. Consuming ground flax seed provides both fiber and Omega-3 fatty acids to help to reduce your LDL cholesterol and raise your HDL cholesterol. However, based purely on concentrated Omega-3 contribution, it is hard to beat flax seed oil. For example, a single tablespoon of high quality flax seed oil contains approximately 6,200 mg of Omega-3 fatty acid. Flax seed oil is an excellent food that lowers cholesterol. I recommend this Organic Flax Seed Oil. It is rich in the lignans secoisolariciresinol diglycoside (SDG) and secoisolariciresinol (Seco). These potent antioxidants scavenge free radicals, which can damage tissue and are thought to play a role in the pathology of many diseases. Take one teaspoon in the morning and one in the evening. Cold water fish and fish oils ? As with flax, cold water fish such as salmon, bass, tuna, trout and mackerel contain Omega-3 essential fatty acids and will help to lower your LDL cholesterol and raise your HDL cholesterol. Fish Oil Capsules make it easy and convenient to consume, even if you do not like fish. Soluble fiber ? Oats and oat products are accepted by the traditional medical community to reduce LDL cholesterol, but other soluble fibers such as chickpeas, grapefruit pectin, apple pectin and psyllium help as well. Here is a fantastic fiber supplement I recently discovered that is proven to lower LDL cholesterol better than oat fiber. Soy products ? soy products containing soy protein and soy isoflavones have been proven effective in lowering LDL cholesterol. Such products include tofu, tempeh, and soy milk. Raw onions ? A study at Tufts University showed that eating a raw onion a day increased HDL levels an average of 30%. Eating a half a raw onion per day over a 3 month period seems to provide similar benefits. Unfortunately, a common side effect to eating too much raw onion is an adverse impact on your social life. Extra Virgin Olive Oil ? Consuming 2-3 tablespoons of virgin olive oil per day has been shown to decrease LDL cholesterol levels in the blood and also reduce oxidation of LDL cholesterol, and increase levels of phenols (an antioxidant) in the blood. Orange juice ? A study conducted in November 2000 showed that consuming 750 ml of orange juice daily over a 4 week period increased HDL levels by over 20%. However, consuming less orange juice (250 ml and 500 ml) did not show a dramatic increase in HDL cholesterol. Red wine in moderation ? Earlier studies showed that red wine contains resveratrol, an anti-oxidant that is linked to prevent LDL cholesterol from oxidizing in your arteries. Newer studies have found another compound in wine called saponin that helps lower LDL cholesterol. While saponin was identified in certain plant foods, red wine is now thought to be a significant dietary source. Red zinfandel and syrah have shown to contain the highest concentrations of saponin. Cayenne ? contains a compound called capsaicin, which helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels. Eggs (in moderation) - that's right, I said eggs - the ultimate high cholesterol food. Remember, dietary cholesterol is only a small fraction of the cholesterol your body produces. Although eggs are rich in cholesterol, they also contain choline, a component of lecithin, which acts like a fat and cholesterol dissolver. Amazing - the ultimate high cholesterol food is actually a food that lowers cholesterol. Selenium ? a potent antioxidant has been shown to directly prevent arterial sclerosis. Selenium works best when combined with vitamin E. Take 200 mcg of Selenium per day. No Flush Niacin ? Research has shown that Niacin helps reduce total colesterol and helps raise HDL cholesterol. Use "no flush niacin" because regular niacin supplements can make your skin flush and cause skin eruptions, when taken in high dosages. Take one to four capsules per day, on a full stomach. Work your way up by starting with one capsule per day and increasing by a capsule per day every 3-4 days. Consult your doctor before undertaking Niacin therapy. Folic Acid ? Folic acid helps your body maintain normal homocysteine levels. Homocysteine accelerates oxidation of LDL cholesterol in your arteries. Take one capsules per day. Vitamin C ? helps promote HDL colesterol levels and conversion of cholesterol into bile. It is also credited with helping your body repair arteries through production of collagen, thus reducing cholesterol and plaque buildup. Refer to Vitamin C Therapy for more information on using Vitamin C to help fight coronary artery disease. Tocotrienols ? Antioxidant that helps decrease LDL cholesterol oxidation. Quercetin ? This bioflavonoid helps stop oxidation of LDL cholesterol in your arteries. L-Arginine ? An amino acid that you body produces. Oral doses of L-arginine have been shown to lower cholesterol levels. Take two capsules, 3 times per day. Do not take this supplement if you have herpes or a tendency to get cold-sores. Circumin ? A component of turmeric, this compound helps prevent oxidation of LDL cholesterol in your arteries. Lecithin - Helps make cholesterol soluble, allowing it to flow more easily through your body. I recommend Lecithin Granules because they taste good and are eaily absorbed by your body. Take 1-2 tablespoons per day. You can sprinkle it on your morning cereal or other food.
Avoid Food that Raises Cholesterol
In addition to eating food that lowers cholesterol, avoid food that raises cholesterol. This list includes foods that are known to increase your cholesterol or contribute to oxidization of LDL cholesterol, thus damaging your arteries. Avoiding these foods, and eating food that lowers cholesterol will help you get your cholesterol levels in balance. Trans Fats and Saturated Fats - hydrogenated fats or partially hydrogenated fats. Lard Deep Fried Foods - Even the best oils become saturated when heated.
These lists are evolving - as additional information becomes available on food that lowers cholesterol, it will be added ? please come back frequently for updates.
I am genetically pre-disposed to having high cholesterol. Although all of the items above help to control cholesterol levels, I found that a few key things made the most difference. Here is what I learned through my experience lowering cholesterol.

Hyperthermia, also known as heat therapy, fever therapy or sweat therapy, helps your body both cleanse and heal itself. A great healer once said, ?Give me the power to create a fever and I can cure any disease?. In the past, healers observed that people suffering from diverse ailments were cured following a high fever. By creating an artificial fever, these healers would help the patient quite literally sweat the disease out of their system. Nowadays, fever is thought of as an undesirable symptom because it increases our discomfort ? therefore it is artificially reduced using drugs such as aspirin. Imagine that our body is trying to heal itself and instead of helping it, we hinder it by taking drugs to undo the healing process.
What are the benefits of hyperthermia?
Heat draws out toxins, helps clean clogged pores, kills harmful bacteria and viruses, increases circulation and enhances the immune system. Hyperthermia stimulates cellular activity and increases metabolism. Circulation, tissue rebuilding and healing are also increased. Injuries heal faster with heat. Have you ever used a heating pad to help heal muscle aches and pains? In short, hyperthermia stimulates all body functions.
Although we do not think of our skin as an organ, it can be thought of as one of the biggest elimination organs in our bodies. It has the ability to eliminate toxins and waste through its pores. The basic goal of hyperthermia or heat therapy is to increase the body?s temperature over a short duration to cause your body to sweat profusely, thus cleansing toxins out of your pores. Additionally, the increased body temperature will help your body heal itself from many ailments.
What precautions do I need to take with hyperthermia therapy?
Whatever treatment method you choose, make sure to properly hydrate yourself before any hyperthermia treatment and drink 1-2 glasses of cool water immediately after treatment. Remember the objective is to release toxins through sweating, so you will dehydrate much faster than with other cleansing therapies.
With the exception of a steam bath or sauna where it is physically impossible to do so, never immerse or cover your head as part of a hyperthermia treatment. Why not cover your head? Well the obvious reason is that you need to be able to breathe. However, the other reason is that the brain does not take too well to being overheated. Your head is one of your primary cooling mechanisms and keeping your head out of the hot water will help your body keep the hyperthermia to safe levels. Since you do not have the option to keep your head cool in a sauna or steam bath, you should limit your time in them to 10-15 minutes, versus other methods which can take up to 30 minutes.
If you feel nauseous or sick during the course of a hyperthermia treatment, discontinue the treatment immediately. Nausea could be a sign that your body is overheating.
How can I administer hyperthermia?
There are a number of simple ways to administer hyperthermia ? depending on the tools you have available. You can induce an artificial fever by soaking in a tub of hot water, sitting in a sauna or steam bath, or wrapping yourself in blankets with a hot water bottle.
The simplest and easiest method of increasing your body temperature is to immerse yourself in hot water for approximately 20 - 30 minutes. Have you ever taken a hot bath or gotten into a hot tub? Remember how good it felt even after you got out ? how relaxed you were?.how energized you felt after you cooled down? Well ? you experienced the benefits of hyperthermia or heat therapy.
If you want to use your bathtub, fill it with hot water ? as hot as you can stand. To be effective, you should be able to cover all the parts of your body ? except your head. Even though you are covered with water, you will sweat. Contained in this sweat will be toxins that your body wants to eliminate. Use hydrogen peroxide therapy to further enhance the benefit of hyperthermia.
Although using a bathtub is a convenient method of administering hyperthermia, I find that my bathtub is actually not long enough and it becomes uncomfortable because I have to fold my legs. I therefore prefer using a hot tub or spa. If you are fortunate enough to have access to a private spa, make sure the temperature is set to at least 104 degrees F. As in the bathtub, submerge all parts of your body, except your head, and stay submerged for 20 ? 30 minutes. This will ensure that your body temperature rises sufficiently.
Most people do not have access to a private hot tub? so is using a public one may be the next best option? The biggest concerns with using a public hot tub or spa are contaminants in the water from other users and the chlorine or bromine used to sanitize the hot tubs. Neither chemical is good for you, and since the pores in your skin can also absorb things, at the same time they are releasing your toxins, you risk negating the detox effects. Instead, see if you can find a hot tub that uses ozone to clean the water. This newer type of cleansing not only kills bacteria in the water, but also better neutralizes the toxins that may have been expelled by previous users. In fact, hot tubs that use ozone generators to clean the water also give you the added benefits of oxygen therapy at the same time as hyperthermia or heat therapy.
If your bathtub is too uncomfortable and you cannot find a hot tub that uses ozone cleaning, then you can do a sunbath. You will need a large plastic sheet at least 8 feet by 4 feet and 6 millimeters thick. Lay the plastic out in your backyard or anywhere else where it is sunny. Lie on half of the sheet and fold the other half over your body. Tuck in the edges along your side and at your feet. Place a rolled up towel or outdoor pillow under your head and neck. Lie in this position for 10 ? 15 minutes and then turn over on your stomach for another 10-15 minutes. As always, do not wrap or cover your head with the plastic. If you have fair or sensitive skin, then start out slowly and gradually increase the time you spend ? working your way up to the full 30 minutes.
Yet another option is to make a portable steam bath. Place two buckets of boiling water ? one in front of a lawn chair and one directly under the seat. Sit on the lawn chair with your feet submerged in the water in the bucket in front of the chair. Use the plastic sheet to cover your body, leaving your head uncovered. The goal is to trap the steam from the buckets of water under the plastic. The temperature under the plastic should rise ? just like in a steam bath.

Parasite Cleanse

A parasite cleanse is required if your body is overburdened with other toxins. For the most part, if your body is healthy, then your immune system can deal with the parasites. If your circulation is poor, or your organs and tissues are oxygen deprived, or your pH is out of balance, tissues begin to deteriorate. This sets up an environment suitable for parasites to invade your body. They will naturally migrate to those areas of the body where your body is not functioning optimally. So they can be present in your blood, your joints, your organs, you name it! While parasites may not necessarily be the cause of a disease, they are extremely opportunistic and can make a disease worse.
There are many reasons to consider a parasite cleanse. It is estimated that parasites infect up to 80% of the world population, and that these infestations are not limited to developing nations with poor sanitation. Common lab tests screen for only forty of the hundreds of parasites that can live within the human body. In addition, most tests are performed on stool samples, but in reality only a few parasites inhabit the intestinal tract. Thus many people can test negative when in fact they do have parasites.
What is a parasite?
A parasite is an organism that derives its food, nutrition and shelter by living in or on another organism.
How would I possibly get bad parasites?
Malaria, giardia, and roundworm can be spread from country to country due to increased immigration and travel. Popularity of raw or undercooked foods, in particular meats and fish, can spread parasites. Until recently, the US government had banned the import of Italian prosciutto because the traditional method used to cure the pork did not involve heat of any kind.
You know how certain beaches are closed to swimmers after heavy rains? This is because the bacterial and parasite levels are extremely high and create the risk of infection. If you live in high smog areas, you will be more susceptible to parasite invasion.
Probably the most common method of transmission is through pets. Even if you wash your hands after petting your dog or cat or handling your scaly or feathered friends, you can still get parasites by picking up their bedding or their food dish or when they come over and lick you. This is the reason why women are advised to stop emptying the cat litter box while they are pregnant.
So what is a toxin-conscious person to do? A routine parasite cleanse!
Possible Signs of Parasitic Infestation
Since parasites will naturally inhabit the weaker areas of your body, symptoms can manifest in many different ways. Stomach pain, indigestion, ulcers, constipation or colitis may indicate parasites in the digestive tract Uncontrollable movements, such as Parkinson?s disease, may indicate parasites in the nervous system Joint or muscle pain, such as arthritis, can be a sign that the presence of a parasite is irritating the joint or tissue and thereby causing inflammation Increased susceptibility to infections in lungs, sinuses, vagina, bladder or any mucous membrane may indicate the presence of a parasite Food and environmental allergies are often linked to parasites because as digested food is released into the intestines, it can seep through perforations caused by the parasites into the lymphatic system Dermatitis, itching, psoriasis, eczema, hives, swelling and rashes can indicate parasites in the skin Anemia, fatigue or drowsiness after meals may indicate that parasites are competing with the body for nutrients
Cleansing Sequence
I have seen conflicting information on when to undertake this cleanse ? in conjunction with the colon cleanse or after the liver cleanse. However, the consensus is that if your body has a low level of toxicity (no chronic symptoms and regular bowel movements), then sequence is less important. If you are experiencing any chronic symptoms or have not been following a natural and organic food diet, then I would recommend that you do the colon cleanse and the parasite cleanse first, followed by the kidney cleanse and then the liver cleanse.
Parasite Cleanse Guide
You may have read about certain foods and herbs that kill certain parasites. Studies have shown that 4 glasses pomegranate juice daily will kill tapeworms. One-quarter cup of finely ground pumpkin seeds can eliminate many other varieties of worms. But, if you suspect that you have a parasite, but cannot rely on the common lab tests to tell you what you have, then what can you do?
As with other types of cleanses, there are two way to arrive at a solution. The do-it-yourself method requires that you find and purchase all of the ingredients and then administer them in the right dosages. This task can be time consuming and not necessarily inexpensive, despite the label "do-it-yourself".
Using the kit method, you can purchase a kit, consisting of a mixture of various anti-parasite supplements and herbal laxatives. While this may seem like it should cost more, take it from someone that has done a lot of cleanses, by the time you purchase all of the ingredients in their minimum quanities, you really do not save that much money using the do-it-yourself method. If you wish to, you can skip ahead to the kit method.
Do-It-Yourself Parasite Cleanse
All sources that I have read agree that the best parasite cleanse consists of a combination of herbs to eliminate adult parasites and their eggs. A common formula uses three particular herbs: black walnut hulls, wormwood and cloves. The walnut hulls and wormwood kill parasites in the adult and developmental stages, while the cloves kill the eggs. Thus by using the three herbs in combination, you kill the parasites at all stages of its life cycle.
1. Be careful with your source of black walnut hulls. The hulls must be harvested green, before they decay and turn black, in order to retain their medicinal properties. Look for black walnut hulls in a tincture solution in most health food stores.
2. There are a lot of different plants that are commonly called wormwood. The one with the maximum parasite-fighting capability is the one with the scientific name ?Artemesia?. It is extremely bitter and best taken in capsule form.
3. There are no particular precautions with cloves. However, if you are putting them in capsules yourself, freshly grind whole cloves yourself. Ground cloves found in the spice aisle of most grocery stores are often stale, which means they have lost their medicinal value.
Typical Side Effects
There are no typical side effects from these herbs at recommended dosages, though you may experience a healing crisis as your body eliminates the parasites and begins to heal itself. Drink plenty of water while on any parasite cleanse. Nevertheless, do not exceed recommended dosages in an effort to speed up the parasite cleanse! Always remember that too much of a good thing isn?t necessarily better for you. Lastly, you do not need to stop other medications or herbal therapies.
Complete Parasite Cleanse
You will need: Organic apple juice Tincture of black walnut hull Bottle of Wormwood capsules (200-300mg each) Bottle of Clove capsules (500 mg each) Bottle of L-ornithine capsules (500 mg each)
Begin the parasite cleanse around the full moon, which is when parasites are most active. Take the herbal combination 30 minutes before meals or on an empty stomach. Plan on taking 1-4 L-ornithine capsules at night if you have trouble sleeping during the cleanse.
Week 1: Add 30 drops of the black walnut hull to one cup of organic apple juice. Drink with one capsule each wormwood and cloves. Take this dose of herbs 3 times per day.
Week 2: Stay at 30 drops of the black walnut hull to one cup of organic apple juice. Increase the wormwood and cloves to 2 capsules each. Take this dose of herbs 3 times per day.
Week 3: Stay at 30 drops of the black walnut hull to one cup of organic apple juice. Increase the wormwood and cloves to 3 capsules each. Take this dose of herbs 3 times per day.
Most parasites will die within a week, but continue for at least three weeks and for up to three months. If you continue longer than three weeks, simply maintain the Week 3 dosage for the remainder of the cleanse.
Concerns About Do-It-Yourself Cleanses
While I wholeheartedly believe in the parasite cleanse described on this page, and I have used it and recommended it with great success, I have growing concerns about the efficacy and variability of do-it-yourself cleanses based on individual ingredients. The efficacy can vary greatly depending on the manufacturers' quality standards, and the age / shelf life of the supplement.
Kit Method of Parasite Cleanse
Instead of assembling all of the ingredients yourself, you may choose from one of numerous supplement-based parasite cleansing kits available at your health food store or online. A complete supplement-based parasite cleansing kit should have some form of herbal laxative and herbs to expel adult parasites and kill the eggs. You should also make sure that the whatever supplement based product you purchase is fresh (not past its shelf life) and comes from a reputable supplier. There are a large number of suppliers of herbal supplements that produce their supplements without the sufficient quality controls and standards to guarantee purity, quality and efficacy.
The easiest kits to use are ones that come with all of the ingredients pre-mixed, to save you the time and hassle of looking up dosages. I have found that while the kit method may appear to be more expensive initially, after using the do-it-yourself method on numerous occassions, it is actually not more expensive to use the kit method.
After having investigated a number of kits available on the market in terms of ingredients, ease of use and supplier credibility and quality, here is my recommendation for a parasite cleanse kit.
Drink Plenty of Water
Remember to drink plenty of water each day to flush the excreted toxins out of your system! Information on the benefit of drinking water will provide you with guidelines on the minimum amount of water you should be drinking. The more water you drink, the more toxins your body will be able to expel as part of this cleanse, and the better you will feel through the cleansing process.
Re-infestation will occur so consider doing the parasite cleanse once or twice a year. Children are especially susceptible to parasites since they are always sticking things in their mouths. While teenagers can take adult dosages, please consult a natural doctor for the proper doses for children.
